-
-
- 1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- ----------------------
-
- To run DiveMaster, you must have the following hardware/software setup:
-
- - 4 Mb RAM
- - Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher
- - Minimum VGA 640x480 in 256 colours (lower colour depths will
- work, but images included with the program will not look
- right on your monitor)
- - OPTIONAL: Sound card compatible with Windows (to hear digitized
- sounds)
-
-
- 2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- ----------------------------
-
- There are two possible forms you may have received DiveMaster 1.0 in:
-
- 1) On a 3.5" disk that you have purchased
- 2) A "zipped" file (DIVEMAST.ZIP)
-
- Following are the steps that must be taken in each of the above cases to
- properly install DiveMaster 1.0 on your computer...
-
-
- If you have a "zipped file".....
-
- 1) Using PKUNZIP.EXE, uncompress the DIVEMAST.ZIP file
- to a BLANK, FORMATTED 3.5" disk (see 'NOTE' below
- for extra details). After the unzipping is
- complete, remember to LABEL THE DISK (so that you
- wont forget what's on it).
-
- 2) Start Windows.
-
- 3) From the File menu of Program Manager, select Run.
-
- 4) In the dialog box, type:
-
- <DRIVE>:\setup.exe
-
- where <DRIVE> is the letter of the drive with the
- DiveMaster 1.0 files in it.
-
- 5) Click "Ok". The DiveMaster 1.0 installation program will
- start. By following the online instruction, you should
- be able to successfully install DiveMaster 1.0.
-
-
- NOTE: It is possible to uncompress DiveMaster 1.0 to a
- directory on your hard disk and run the installation
- program from there, but there is a VERY good reason
- to make a floppy copy. By doing this you have a BACKUP
- copy of DiveMaster which you can STORE for safe
- keeping.
-
-
-
- If you purchased DiveMaster 1.0 on a DISK.....
-
-
- 1) Follow the instructions above, excluding the FIRST
- step.
-
-
- 3. MANUAL INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
- --------------------------------
-
- If you get an error during installation with the automated installer,
- or wish to install DiveMaster 1.0 manually, follow the instructions
- below:
-
- 1) Create a new directory to hold the main DiveMaster
- files (e.g., C:\DIVEMAST)
-
- 2) Use PKUNZIP.EXE to unzip DIVEMAST.ZIP to a floppy disk or
- temporary directory (you can delete the directory after
- you've finished installing DiveMaster).
-
- 3) Use the EXPAND.EXE program (included with Windows)
- to uncompress the DiveMaster files (which were unzipped
- from DIVEMAST.ZIP in step #2) as follows...
-
- NOTE: Instruction on using EXPAND can be found by
- typing EXPAND /? at the DOS prompt. When you
- expand each file make sure that the resultant
- filename's extension ends in the character
- indicated (instead of the underscore).
-
-
- - expand files with the extension .VB_ to your
- WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory (they are: spin.vb_,
- threed.vb_, mci.vb_, and graph.vb_).
-
- (last character is 'X')
-
- - expand GSWDLL.DL_ to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
-
- (last character is 'L')
-
- - expand GSW.EX_ and VBRUN300.DL_ to the WINDOWS
- directory (must be in the path).
-
- (last characters are 'E' and 'L' respectively)
-
- - expand the following files to the new directory:
-
- divehelp.hl_ (last char: 'P')
- divemast.ex_ (last char: 'E')
- diver.wa_ (last char: 'V')
- img001.bm_----->img045.bm_ (last char: 'P')
- sample.lo_ (last char: 'G')
-
- - copy this readme file to the dive directory for
- future reference.
-
- 4) Start Windows and make a new program group for
- DiveMaster (You can put DiveMaster in another group
- if you wish).
-
- 5) Make a new program item for DiveMaster, pointing to
- the file DIVEMAST.EXE in your DiveMaster directory.
-
- 6) Try running DiveMaster by double-clicking on its icon.
-
-
- 4. HOW TO USE DiveMaster 1.0
- ----------------------------
-
- Using DiveMaster 1.0 is very simple once you learn its basics. The
- full documentation can be found ONLINE. At any time while using
- DiveMaster 1.0 pressing the F1 key will bring up CONTEXT SENSITIVE
- HELP for the function you are using. The help file covers ALL of
- DiveMaster's features in detail, and allows you to search for help
- on any topic.
-
-
- 5. SAMPLE LOG FILE
- ------------------
-

- install DiveMaster. The name of this file is 'SAMPLE.LOG', and can be found
- in the directory where DiveMaster has been installed.
-
-
- 6. LEGAL STUFF/REGISTRATION
- ---------------------------
-
- This program is being issued as SHAREWARE. It may be FREELY copied
- and distributed. However, no part of this program may be used for
- commercial gain, except by written permission from the author.
- Being the initial release, this program is limited in scope and
- likely has many inadequacies. I would very much appreciate any
- feedback, comments, suggestions for improvements, etc. that you might
- have. For example, would you find it useful if DiveMaster included a
- "dive planner" with NDLs, decompression schedules, and dive computer
- algorithms; a database of "scuba facts"; and a "sketch-pad" pop-up
- window for each dive?
- If you like this application, find it useful, and would like to see
- future enhancements, please show your support and encouragement by
- sending a $20.00 (Canadian) registration fee (which entitles you to
- a free diskette version of the next release of DiveMaster) to:
